About Tahma
Our journey began in 2010 while I still owned BOGS.
I used to fish often in Alaska and being in the boot business, I always asked the boat captains, deckhands, etc. what boots they liked, what were the features that counted most, etc. Bottom line, it was the grip of the outsole, comfort to wear all day, and the ability to roll the shaft down when their feet got hot.
In 2011 I began working on a boot that not only met the needs of commercial fishermen, but also for men and women whose jobs necessitated the highest level of grip, safety, and comfort: brewery and winery workers, dairy workers, sanitation workers, or anyone whose day-to-day activities make hard demands on them and who deserves a boot that can keep pace.
After much perseverance, trial and error, testing and re-testing, the TAHMA GripTec boot became a reality. Our proprietary rubber formulation and outer sole construction resulted in a boot that is the most slip-resistant, comfortable, and protective available. Our testing is done at Precision Testing in TN, which is who the US military uses.
Our extensive trial field testing this past year resulted in users telling us that the GripTec boot was lightweight, had great traction on many surfaces, provided all-day comfort, and stood up to hot water and cleaning chemicals. They reported that they liked the flexibility in the upper leg (both roll down and less tension when squatting), the material of the boot sleeve and how breathable it was, and the durability...the sole showed no wear after seven months of daily use.
TAHMA was born from the concept of sisu, a tenant inherent to the Finnish roots of my wife’s family. Sisu embodies unwavering determination and grit, resilience, and strength of will.
These traits are also the mark of the TAHMA customer. We are incredibly proud to serve those in the industries that know: comfort and grip matter.

Griptec
Traction engineered for the world’s toughest work.
The Griptec rubber formula was developed over a period of ten plus years. After hundreds of trials and testing the result is the most slip resistant outsole ever made for the fishing, dairy, brewery, and or any other environment that slip resistance is important.
The outsole far exceeds SRC standards (the most stringent test for slip resistance), and is ultra long wearing as well along with having a high level of chemical resistance.
Recoil Rubber
Endless Energy.
Effortless Comfort.
Recoil is an energy return material made from rubber, silicone, and other polymers that when compressed push back against that energy. As you take steps in the boot and your foot presses down the recoil pushes back and creates the “bounce” and “comfort”. It will never break down and will maintain the energy return for the life of the boot.
INSULATED
Heat held in.
Cold shut out.
Our insulated boots are rated to -40°F and built for serious cold. We use a non-woven insulation bonded with heat instead of thread, creating loft that traps warm air without adding bulk. A layer of natural wool felt above the sock liner adds comfort and moisture control. Wool keeps feet dry and warm, because in the Northwest, we know that wet means cold.
